Fingers crossed...

Well the sky is still broken - All uk airspace has been made into a no fly zone - and I'm still offshore. We've succumbed to the fact that our first family holiday departing on Tuesday is not going to happen (pity we hadn't been going west......) but here's the cruncher. I may be back on solid land in about 2 hours time. I should be excited - I really should. The only problem is that Ours is being used as the 'tester flight' for all chopers in the field. Apparently they have laid on their best pilot (to this I am grateful - but lets face it, it doesn't matter how good a pilot you are if yor engines melt!) and NATS are reluctantly going to let them 'attempt this flight' and depending on the outcome they will make a decision as to whether they will let any others fly!!!

Okay - if we're successful I will be eternally grateful that I'll be home - as the word on the street is that if we miss this window it could be another few days before they will allow flying again. But to be honest, I think I'd rather be stuck for a few days knowing that flying conditions are safe - rather than being the guinea pig for the rest of the mob stuck offshore.

So as I said - here goes......fingers crossed x

Try explaining this one....

Poor BB - for the second time in just over a week he is having it explained to him that one of his parents won't be home as expected from offshore. Last week BFS stayed on an extra day as his relief had a funeral - and here I am today unable to check-in due to Volcanic Ash in the airspace above Britain!!! Now really?

BB doesn't even know what a volcano is - never mind comprehending the fact that one errupted hundreds of miles away from his house and somehow - due to good old mother nature - it's ashes have blown all the way over here and stopping Mummy's helicopter from taking her home. All he knows is that Mummy should be coming home today - and now she maybe not.

Then again - if he takes it in his stride the way that he took the news Daddy was going to be late home - then we'll be fine.......he'll just shrug his shoulders and ask to go to the park!

When I called BFS to tell him the news, I was informed he'd only gotten 1 hours sleep last night - can't wait to hear the reason for that! (I think I may be mum of one by the time I hit solid ground again............)

Off duty in auld reekie

I'm in scotlands big smoke, with four others participating in our age old tradition of sending off a beloved friend in true fashion before she gets married. I spent the evening knocking back cocktails getting hit on by a stand up in a comedy club ( all in the name of giving him good material !!! I got off lighter than the hen's mum who was repeatedly reminded that her daughter loved getting rogered by her hubby to be! lol) anyways my beloved bfs is holding the fort back at SH with the boys. Poor thing is fresh off of nightshift so not fully functioning-at least not to the point if dealing with 'why boy'!!! Only 45 hours til I see them again- not that I'm counting......at least he should bs good with the early starts.

Looking for an audience

I will have to address this properly at a later date as I'm in bed with my phone, but as bfs said tonight I have to blog about my eldests antics today. On Thursday he participated in an Easter service at the local church singing a very animated song about a chicken...he obviously enjoyed it as today he repeatedly sung it whilst we were out the back whilst instructing me on the actions required to go with( lots of flapping of elbows!!!) his renditions were getting louder and louder and he was getting really into it when I popped inside for something. I heard a couple of thuds, a kinda crash, then howling sobs? I went outside to investigate and discovered a plastic sandpit with a buckled lid! When I asked bb how the sandpit had broken he wailed that it was his stage!!! My little exhibitionist had taken his performance a step further - now all he needs is an audience!
